Dearest Melanie,

July 19, 2010   marked  5 long years since you have been missing.   Not gone from our lives because that will never be the case.  We know you are out there somewhere and we will never quit looking until you are brought home.  Alot has happened during these past 5 years.  Tears have been shed, candles have been lit, balloons have been released, and new families have been formed.  But nothing will be finished, nothing complete until you are brought back home.  5 long years!!! Alot has happened during these past 5 years.  Hannah, Nathan and Ryan have all grown so much, and all miss their mother desperately.   We all miss their mother desperately.   I miss my only daughter.  I miss you desperately and can not wait to hold you in my arms again.  5 long years!!!!  Alot has happened during these past 5 years.  I hope and pray there will not be a 6th.   I love you so very much and miss you,

Love you,
Mom

Young Mother Disappears Without A Trace

Detectives from the Kanawha Sheriff's Department are seeking the public's help in finding Melanie Metheny, 22, a mother of three.

At 8:00 a.m. on July 19, 2006, cops say Melanie dropped her children off at daycare.

According to Melanie's family, she was excited about going back to school for nursing and that was the day she planned to register. Her first stop was Garnet Career Center, an adult education organization, where she planned to pick up her transcripts. Melanie was then going to drive to West Virginia State University to enroll for classes.

But cops say nobody recalls seeing Melanie at Garnet and they don't believe she made it to the university.

The last verified communication Melanie had was at 9:09 a.m. when cops say she contacted an auto body shop to confirm an upcoming appointment. Police say Melanie has not been heard from since.

"We need to get closure on this case for the sake of the kids. We need someone to come forward."
